Terms of Service

These terms are between Lang IT Services Inc., Calgary, Alberta, Canada ("we", "us"), and the business that uses The Night Reception ("you"). By using the service, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy and Data Processing terms also apply.

1. What the service is

The Night Reception is after-hours and overflow front-desk cover for your website. It covers three channels today:

  • Web chat on your site, answered live from the brief you give us.
  • Your existing contact form, captured with contact details.
  • Email to your Night Reception address, captured the same way.

For form and email enquiries, you get a short brief and a suggested reply that you edit and send. Nothing is sent to your customers automatically. Phone calls and text messages are not part of the service today.

2. Setup

Setup is assisted. We configure the desk with you — your business name, notification email, website domains, contact form, email cover, and booking link if you use one — and you approve the details before it goes live. There is no self-serve signup.

3. AI and its limits

  • The desk is an AI assistant. It can be wrong, and it can miss things. You are responsible for reviewing and acting on the enquiries it captures.
  • It shares your booking link; it does not book, schedule, or confirm a time, and it does not place calls or send texts.
  • It does not give legal, financial, medical, tax, or security advice, and it is not a substitute for it.
  • It is not a CRM, a phone system, or a booking engine, and it does not replace your daytime team.

4. Your responsibilities

  • You must have the right to route your website's enquiries to us, and to have us handle them on your behalf.
  • You must not use the service for personal health information, or for unlawful, harmful, or harassing content.
  • You must keep your contact and notification details current, and tell us if your website or contact form changes.

5. Fees and cancellation

The first three customers may join a paid pilot for $199 CAD total for 90 days, starting when their front desk goes live. The pilot includes assisted setup and standard functionality; custom development is quoted separately. The pilot fee is billed in advance and excludes applicable taxes.

The pilot does not renew automatically. If you choose to continue, the price is $249 CAD per month, billed monthly in advance, excluding applicable taxes.

After choosing continued monthly service, you can cancel at any time with 30 days' notice. The service continues to the end of the notice period, and fees for that period remain payable. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

6. Service levels

We do not promise a specific uptime, response time, or coverage window. We aim to keep the service available and to tell you about problems, but the service is provided as it is. If we make a material change to what the service covers, we will tell you.

7. Suspension and ending the service

We may suspend or end the service if fees are unpaid, if the service is misused, or if continuing would create a risk to us or to others. You may end the service as described in section 5.

8. Ownership

The service, the website, and our materials are ours. You keep your own data and your own enquiry records.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits or lost business. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is material, we will tell you.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada, and the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction.
